We are a cell of the Great Spirit's body, we are its consciousness, its thought of its Self.

The 0-9 Law of Harmonic Energy Motion

The Elders call this the key Sacred Law because it controls all laws. The Great Spirit's intent for evolution into excellence is born first out of the receptive-creative energy of the feminine principle. Then, through its active-conceptive energy, the male principle, it manifests the form of its intent with maximum efficiency and minimum effort.

This process and every thing you do, follows nine movements (ten steps):

Focus
Substance
Form
Determination
Understanding
Imagination
Freedom
Pattern
Chaos
Completion

When I was a young boy, my clan uncle, John Two Crows, demonstrated this law to me by taking me to a pond near our house. He dropped a pebble into the water intently. Over and over again he dropped pebbles into the water. Finally, with his coaching, I began to see that the waves rippled out in nine circles from the Centre, and then a very powerful thing happened! Before they hit the bank, they began to ripple back towards the Centre.

John Two Crows asked me, "What caused the ripple to move back again? What did it hit?"

I spent months dropping pebbles in the water, trying to catch what in the hell this was all about. And always, on the ninth ripple- no less, no more- it started to ripple back.

Every time I'd ask him, he'd say, "That's the invisible secret, the mystery of the Universe. You figure it out."

I must have gotten a million headaches trying to figure out what was making that wave go back. One day my clan uncle told me that all things in Nature do this. It is a going out from the Source, the moment of creation, and then seeking the way back to the Source.

Sitting

Cat sits in the sun.
Dog sits in the grass.
Turtle sits on the rock.
Frog sits on the lily pad.
Why aren't people so smart?

Those who follow Tao are fond of pointing out the wisdom of animals. When they see a cat sitting motionless in the sun or a turtle who stretches her head upward in a still pose, they say that these animals are meditating. They know how to be still and conserve their internal energy. They do not dissipate themselves in useless activity but instead withdraw into themselves to recharge.

It is only people who label meditation as some sort of odd religious activity. This is not the actual case. Something like meditation happens when we sleep, or when we are absorbed in reading a book, or when we "daydream" and become so lost in a thought or an image that we do not notice what is going on around us.

There is no reason to think of meditation as something out of the ordinary. Quite the opposite. Meditation is the purest and most natural expression we can have. When you next look at a cat or a dog sitting still, and admire the naturalness of their actions, think then of your own life. Don't meditate because it is a part of your schedule or is demanded by your particular philosophy. Meditate because this is natural.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

meet some deer. they are magical little creatures. graceful and clever and can disappear in the blink of an eye. but some huff and puff and stomp away. they're fun creatures. here's some that had a family of people move onto their land. how did THEY react?

a beautiful relationship (best backyard ever!)

"Mama Rose, the matriarch, she taught us the Way of the Deer"

"Our house was built in the deer's natural habitat in a remote rural area. Well worn deer trails cut through the property's abundant pine and sage. The oldest deer we've met (we call her Mama Rose) walked right up to us when we first arrived, sniffing and looking us over. Rose smelled some almonds in my pocket so I gave her a few. We gave some almonds to her family a few other times but stopped the practice when advised that feeding deer is illegal. Even so, that didn't stop them from regular visits. Rose and her kin obviously think the yard belongs to them as much as anyone else, and they are just taking advantage of the wealth of natural foods growing everywhere. They especially like clover flowers, but it's amazing to see the variety of tasty flowers, leaves, twigs, nuts and berries they'll eat. They stay away from herbs and herbal flowers, but on occasion we've seen young deer eating the sweet medicinal berries of the Juniper tree. Food is of course a major concern, but we also think they visit because they like our company. Often we see deer we don't know nibbling in the yard, but nearly everyday some or many of Rose's extended family come by. All of the deer are likely to lay down on the grass and hang out, whether we know them well or not. Many of them know us personally, and while often running into the yard to greet us with their quiet enthusiasm, they will also swiftly shy away from strangers. Although notoriously skittish, able to leap meters in the air in an instant when startled, a few deer we know, most notably Eva and her kids, will let us touch them as if we were family, letting us scratch them or pick something out of their fur. Eva even enjoys a hearty backrub! We've certainly learned a lot about how to act around them so as not to disturb them. We think they appreciate our efforts in fitting into their neighborhood..."
